Mr. Calvin Oscar Hicks

Mr. Calvin Oscar Hicks, 88, of Mount Airy, passed away on Wednesday, September 13, 2017, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. He was born July 27, 1929, to the late Burt and Margie Phillips Hicks. He was a loving father and grandfather and will be missed by all who knew him. Left to cherish his memories are his wife, Susan McHone Hicks of the home; a step-son, Eddie Fletcher; two step-daughters, Linda Kay Fletcher and Pamela Joy Slate; and a sister, Flora Hicks Jones; a special niece, Sheller Sechrist Goins; two special grand children, Carolyn Fletcher Dobbins and Jamie Gray Bowman; a special great-granddaughter, Megan Callaway Stevens; as well as several grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents Mr. Hicks was preceded in death by a step-son, Ronald Dean Fletcher; two sisters, Naomi Sechrist and Zena Easter; two brothers, Monore Hicks and Adale Hicks. A funeral service will be held on Monday, September 18, 2017, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy with services conducted by Rev. David Sechrist and Rev. Ricky Spencer. Burial will follow in Skyline Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until time for the service at the funeral home. The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the nurses and caregivers at John Woltz Hospice Home, Mountain Valley Hospice staff, and a special thanks to Angel Goins for all her love and kindness.
