Mr. Chad Slater

Mr. Chad Slater, age 45, of Pilot Mountain, passed away Wednesday, August 16, 2017. Chad was born in Surry County on January 14, 1972. He was the manager of Parrish Tire in Mount Airy, where he began his career at the age of fourteen. Chad loved teaching his girls the skills of basketball and was a dedicated coach with Girls AAU Basketball for twelve years. He was a member of Renfro Masonic Lodge 691 AF & AM. He loved his wife and girls dearly as well as all his family. Among the many that will always cherish his memory is his wife, Sharon W. Slater; daughters, Emma Slater and Molly Slater; his parents, Marvin and Charnell Slater; a sister, Shelly Slater; a niece, Hannah Slater; a nephew, Jarrett Slater; his maternal grandmother, Nelda Goad; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Bobby and Bonnie Watson; sisters-in-law, Debbie Watson; and Amy Simpson and husband Rodney; nieces and nephews, Jake and Tana Leftwich, Tyler and Laken Simpson, Kyle and Brandi Simpson, and Jonathan and Kayla Wilmoth and several aunts, uncles, and cousins. Chad was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Charles Goad; his paternal grandparents, Randolph and Frances Slater; and a brother-in-law, Greg Watson. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 PM, Sunday, August 20, 2017 at Moody Funeral Home by Dr. Joel Stephens. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday beginning at 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, and in sincere consideration for the education of Emma and Molly, it is requested that memorials be made to their college fund at State Employees Credit Union, 826 E. Atkins St., Dobson, NC 27017.
