Charles Robert (Bob) Baugh age 76, of Dogwood Estates, Stuart, Virginia died at the Blue Ridge Nursing Center in Stuart on Thursday, November 20, 2008. He had suffered from a long illness and had been a resident of the nursing facility since June of 2008.
Bob was the youngest of four children born to Joseph Franklin Baugh and Anne Reynolds Baugh. He was born on April 27, 1932 in Pineville, Kentucky. He was a football player for Pineville High School, and won a football scholarship to Georgetown College in Georgetown, Kentucky. He remained at Georgetown for two years and then transferred to Eastern Kentucky State University in Richmond, Kentucky where he also played football. Bob graduated from Eastern Kentucky State University with a BS degree in physical education and health. He taught junior high school for one year in Buchanan County, Virginia, after which he took training and became Executive Director of the Boy Scouts of America. He served in Pike, Floyd and Letcher Counties in Kentucky and Buchanan County in Virginia
After his marriage to Evelyn Blaylock in 1959, they moved to Lexington, Kentucky. Bob completed training for LUTC certification and worked as an agent for Commonwealth Life Insurance Company in Lexington, Kentucky. He was of the Baptist faith and was ordained as a deacon in 1972 by Southern Heights Baptist Church in Lexington, and was a member of Stuart Baptist Church.
Thirty-three years later, Evelyn retired from Lexington-Fayette County Schools and they moved to Stuart, Virginia. After settling in Stuart, Bob worked a couple of years as night watchman for Hanks Lumber Company in Lawsonville, North Carolina.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Franklin Baugh and Anne Reynolds Baugh; his stepmother, Grace Muse Baugh; and two sisters, Jeanne Helen Masengale and Mary Laurantha Fuggate.
Bob is survived by his wife, Evelyn Blaylock Baugh of the home, and a brother and sister-in-law, Joseph Franklin Baugh, II and Jean Amis Baugh of Lexington, Kentucky. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Monday, November 24, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart with Rev. Dr. Clint Hopkins officiating. Burial will follow in Aaron's Corner Church Cemetery in Westfield, North Carolina. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
