Mr. Charles V. Cox

Mr. Charles V. Cox, age 74 of Elizabethtown, Kentucky, and formerly of Stuart, passed away Thursday, May 13, 2010 at his home. He was born in Patrick County on June 13, 1935, the youngest child of the late John Fred and Ida Agnes Slate Cox. In addition to his parents, Mr. Cox was preceded in death by two brothers, William Odell Cox and Wallace Nash Cox, and three sisters, Velva Lee Cox Coleman, Mary Goldie Cox and Gracie Mae Cox Turner. He grew up and attended school in Patrick County, and after serving his country proudly, he retired from the United States Army after 28 years of service.
Mr. Cox is survived by his son, Michael G. Cox of Elizabethtown, Kentucky; a brother and sister-in-law, Homer A. and Jerri Cox of Roanoke; and one sister, Lucille(Red)Dickerson of Central, South Carolina.
Graveside services for Mr. Cox will be held Monday, May 17, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at Patrick Memorial Gardens with military rites by the Patrick County Veterans Memorial Honor Guard. The family will receive friends Monday at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart beginning at 12:30 p.m. until time to proceed to the cemetery. A memorial service at Brown Funeral Home in Elizabethtown, Kentucky will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Patrick County Veterans Memorial Honor Guard, c/o Roy McAlexander, 64 Blacksmith Road, Meadows of Dan, Virginia 24120.
