Mr. Charles David "Dave" Ehly, age 68 of Stuart, passed away Monday, June 27, 2011 at his home. He was born in Richmond on November 4, 1942 to the late Charles George Ehly and Phyllis Mould Ehly. He served in the United States Navy; had retired from the maintenance department of DuPont after 28 years of service, and was a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church. He was an avid fisherman and coon hunter.
Mr. Ehly is survived by his wife, Shirley Newman Ehly of the home; one daughter, Amanda Scammell of Abingdon; one son and daughter-in-law, John and Kim Chitwood of Martinsville; four grandchildren, Chase Jessup, Hunter Chitwood, Hailey Chitwood and Braelyn Scammell; three sisters, Trish Mitchell and Georgann Fennell, both of Sun City West, Arizona, Rebecca Wagner of Richmond; and three brothers, Michael Ehly of Smithfield, and Ricky Ehly and Alan Ehly, both of Richmond.
Funeral service for Mr. Ehly will be held Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. at Pleasant View Baptist Church with Rev. Rick Anderson officiating. Burial will follow in the Bowles Family Cemetery with military rites by the Patrick County Veterans Memorial Honor Guard. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
