Mr. Charles Bondurant Gravley

Mr. Charles Bondurant Gravley, 72 of Mt. Airy passed away at his home Sunday, November 8, 2015. He was born in Surry County on May 7, 1943 to the late Muncie and Mary Bondurant Gravley. He bravely served in the U.S. Airforce. Mr. Gravley was a member of Renfro Masonic Lodge and also the Elks Lodge. He retired from the Mount Airy Paint Store after 38 years of service where he was an expert with color matching and mixing paint, assisting his loyal customers with all their decorating needs. His artistic flare also continued with his flower gardens, flower arranging and painting. Mr. Gravley was an avid collector of antiques, and along with his wife, they ran Trash and Treasures. He loved their mountain home and the time they had spending with the many wonderful friends there. A quote that held so true for him was, If youre lucky enough to be in the mountains then, youre lucky enough. Left to cherish his memories are his wife, Frances Lewis Gravley of the home; daughters, Lisa Lewis and Teresa Lewis both of Mt. Airy; son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Caryl Lewis of Simi Valley, CA; grandchildren, Kelly Lewis and Brad Lewis both of Simi Valley, CA; Melissa Quesinberry of Brooklyn, NY; brothers and sisters-in-law, Johnny and Donna Gravley, and Curtis and Joyce Gravley. A graveside service will be held at Oakdale Cemetery at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, November 11, 2015 with the Rev. Wilborn Rives officiating. Full military rites conducted will be conducted by VFW Honor Guard Post 2019 of Mt. Airy and Post 9436 of Pilot Mountain. There will not be any formal visitation at the funeral home. The family would like to thank all the many friends and caregivers for their many visits and help given to the Gravley Family during their illnesses with a special thank you to their neighbor, Nancy Lovill.
