Mr. Charles Edward Jones

Mr. Charles Edward Jones, 95, of Mt. Airy passed away at Village Care of King, Saturday, February 03, 2018. He was born in Surry County May 12, 1922 to the late James Boss and Geroline Sutphin Jones. Mr. Jones bravely served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He retired from Duke Power and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Mt. Airy. Mr. Jones is survived by his sister, Pauline J. Pardue; a niece Teresa Davis; and a great niece, Kaitlin Davis. In addition to his parents, Mr. Jones was preceded in death by his wife, Rachel Mabe Jones. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, February 6, 2018 at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mt. Airy with Rev. Rusty Reed and Jim McGee officiating. Burial will follow at Oakdale Cemetery with military honors by VFW Memorial Honor Guard, Pilot Mountain Post 9436 and Mt. Airy Post 2019. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 1:00 PM until the time of the service. Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
