Mr. Charles E. Lawson, age 73 of Mt. Airy, passed away Friday, January 13, 2012 at Golden Living Center in Mt. Airy. Mr. Lawson was born in Burke County on September 5, 1938 to the late Lester and Jettie Sawyers Lawson. He was retired from Kentucky Derby Hosiery and was a member of The Peoples Church. Surviving are his wife, Betty Snow Lawson of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Cossie Ayers of Elkin; a son and daughter-in-law, Chris and Teresa Lawson of Pilot Mountain; four grandchildren; three great grandchildren; sisters and brothers-in-law, Patricia and Bob Seigert, Edith and James Mitchell, Barbara Hall all of Mt. Airy, Eva and Stanley Meredith of Ararat, Gracie Jones of Dobson, Darlene and Bobby Beck of Pilot Mountain; brothers and sister-in-law, Wayne Lawson of Pilot Mountain, Everett and Karen Lawson, Garnett Lawson all of Mt. Airy. In addition to his parents, Mr. Lawson was preceded in death by brothers, Ransome and Paul Lawson. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, January 16, 2012 at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mt. Airy with Rev. Gene Brinkley officiating. Burial will follow in The Peoples Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday night from 6:00 to 8:00 at the funeral home. The family would like to thank all the staff of Golden Living Center and the staff of Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care for all the love and support given to Charles and the family.
