Mr. Charles Steven Franklin "Charlie" Mayes

Mr. Charles Steven Franklin “Charlie” Mayes, 46, of Cana, VA passed away at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center, Thursday, August 11, 2016. He was born in Surry County on July 25, 1970 to Betty Joan Allen Mayes and the late Steve Garfield Mayes. He worked for the city of Mt. Airy prior to his declining health. Charlie is survived by his son, Steven Marcus, “Marc” Mayes; his mother, Betty Joan Allen Mayes; brothers and sisters-in-law, Jamie and Shelia Mayes; and Daniel Mayes; and a sister, Jessica Mayes. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, August 15, 2016 at Moody Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dennis Bledsoe officiating. The family will receive friends on Monday from 1:00 until the time of the service at Moody Funeral Home in Mt. Airy. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorials be made to Moody Funeral Home, P.O. Box 1288, Mt. Airy, NC 27030 to assist with the funeral expenses.
