Mr. Charles Marion "Poppy" Sheppard

Mr. Charles Marion "Poppy" Sheppard, age 70 of Walkertown, North Carolina passed away Tuesday, August 23, 2011 at his home. He was born in Lawsonville, North Carolina on February 27,1941 to the late Ralph and Rilla Stevens Sheppard. In addition to his parents, Mr. Sheppard was preceded in death by one brother, Kenneth Owen Sheppard. He had served in the United States Army during the Vietnam war, had retired as an instructor from R. J. Reynolds, and was an avid Wake Forest fan.
Mr. Sheppard is survived by his wife of 49 years, Virginia Lea Sheppard of the home; one son and daughter-in-law, Adrian and Andrea Sheppard of Winston-Salem, North Carolina; two grandchildren, Ashton Sheppard and Hunter Sheppard; one sister-in-law, Eunice Sheppard of Winston-Salem; one niece and one nephew.
A graveside service for Mr. Sheppard will be held Friday, August 26, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. in Stuart Cemetery with Chaplain Lewis Knight officiating. Military rites will be conducted by the Patrick County Veterans Memorial Honor Guard. The family will receive friends Friday from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart.
