Mr. Charlie Mason Hiatt

Mr. Charlie Mason Hiatt, age 79 of Cana, passed away Thursday, January 24, 2013 at Baptist Hospital. Mr. Hiatt was born in Carroll County on July 6, 1933 to Grover and Alverta Farmer Hiatt. He was retired from Bassett Furniture and was a member as well as deacon of Oak Ridge Baptist Church. Surviving are his loving wife of fifty-five years, Helen Johnson Hiatt of the home; daughters and sons-in-law, Wendy and Darryl Haynes of Cana; Sherry and Gary Carico of Mt. Airy; sons and daughters-in-law, Phillip and Pat Hiatt and Timothy and Melissa Hiatt all of Mt. Airy; grandchildren; Sarah Wild, Charles Hiatt, Philicia Marion, Roger Haynes, Jacob Haynes, Patience Eubanks, Katalina Eubanks, Kendall Haynes, Shawn Eubanks, Samuel Haynes and Sydney Haynes; great grandchildren Byron Wild, Pedro Alvarado, Ciara Valentine, Zendaya Valentine and Noah Davis; sisters and a brothers-in-law, Aline Monday of Welcome; Lorrita and Ted Love and Warren Wilson all of Mt. Airy and sisters-in-law, Mary Hiatt of Thomasville and Elsie Hiatt of Cana. In addition to his parents, Mr. Hiatt was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Wilson and brothers, Roby Hiatt and Buford Hiatt. Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM, Sunday, January 27, 2013 at Oak Ridge Baptist Church by Rev. David Sechrist. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church on Saturday night from 6:00 to 8:00.
