Mr. Charlie Holley, age 74 of Ferrum, passed away peacefully Thursday, October 20, 2011 at the Stanleytown Heathcare Center surrounded by family and friends after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Patrick County on April 26, 1937 to the late Oscar Nelus Holley and Sarah Adkins Holley. In addition to his parents, Mr. Holley was preceded in death by two brothers, Odell Jefferson Holley and Jesse Lewis Holley; and one sister, Mary Hale Wright. He was a member of Elamsville Church of God of Prophecy, had been a sawmill operator, and loved gospel and bluegrass music.
Mr. Holley is survived by four sisters, Rosie Willard of Stuart, Elsie Wade of Ferrum, Ann Holley of Rocky Mount and Pauline Haskins of Chatham; and a special nephew, Bobby Hale of Ferrum.
Funeral services for Mr. Holley will be held Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart with Pastor Greg Martin and Brother Tommy Bailey officiating. Burial will follow in the Holley Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
