Mr. Claude Washington "CW" Gentry Jr

Mr. Claude Washington “CW” Gentry Jr., age 80, of Mt. Airy, NC passed away on Wednesday Morning April 18, 2018 at Joan & Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. He was born in Surry County, NC on October 3, 1937 to the late Claude Washington Gentry Sr. and to the late Ida Elizabeth Jarrell Gentry. He was a member of New Hope Baptist Church and a retired Auto Body Technician. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by the mother of his children, Doris Senter Gentry; grandson, Zachary Puckett; sisters, Melba Tate, Clara Lee Southworth; brother, Frank Gentry; step son, Tony Lyons. Surviving are his wife, Jolene Slate Gentry of the home; daughters and sons-in-law, Lesa and Kip Thomas of King, Gina and Ronnie Nichols of Mt. Airy; son and daughter-in-law, Randall and Stefanie Gentry of Mt. Airy; step-daughter and step-son-in-law, Susan and David Baker of Dobson; step-son and step-daughter-in-law, Trent and Carlene Lyons; step-daughter- in-law, Sandra Lyons Bowman; sixteen grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; special friends, Mose and Linda Cockerham. A Celebration of Life will be held 1:00 P.M. in the chapel of New Hope Baptist Church on Friday April 20, 2018 by Rev. Trent Lyons. There will be a private graveside with Military Honors by Veterans of Foreign Wars Memorial Honor Guard Mounty Post 2019 and Pilot Mountain Post 9436. The family has requested in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to the Joan & Howard Woltz Hospice Home, 945 Zephyr Road, Dobson, NC 27017. The family would like to thank the staff of the Joan & Howard Woltz Hospice Home for their kindness and loving care throughout this journey. There will be no formal services held at Moody-Davis Funeral Home in Dobson.
