Mr. Clonie William Stanley

Mr. Clonie William Stanley, age 79 of Mt. Airy passed away Monday, December 10, 2012 at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home. He was born on October 23, 1933 in Floyd County, Virginia to the late Dewey Ebbert and Nancy Ada Dalton Stanley. He graduated from Willis High School in 1953. Mr. Stanley served in the U.S. Navy during the mid 1950's. He retired from J.P.S. Elastiomperics, previously East Hampton Rubber Thread Company after 37 ½ years of service. After retirement, he started working for Bannertown Baptist Church as a custodian where he has been a member since 1985. Mr. Stanley served as a Deacon and in various other positions in the church including the Brotherhood and head usher. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Edna Harryman Stanley of the home; a son and daughter-in-law, Lorne and Misty Stanley of Westfield; grandchildren, Karli and Kaden Willard; sisters and a brother-in-law, Beatrice Dalton of Winston, Agnes Newman of Vesta, VA, Betty and Jimmy Williams of Hillsville; and a brother and sister-in-law, Clendon and Doris Stanley of Gotha, FL; six nieces and three nephews; and several great nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Stanley was preceded in death by two brothers-in-law, Richard Dalton and Cecil Newman. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 12, 2012 at 2:00 PM at Bannertown Baptist Church with Rev. Mickey Cogdil and Rev. Carl Whittaker officiating. Burial will follow in the Stanley Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church on Wednesday from 12:30 PM until the time of the service.
