Mr. Clyde William Joyce

Mr. Clyde William Joyce, age 82 of Mt. Airy passed away peacefully at the home of his granddaughter surrounded by his loving family Thursday, September 13, 2012. Mr. Joyce was born in Surry County on August 24, 1930 to the late Rufus Albert and Ida Mosley Joyce. Mr. Joyce served in the U.S. Army and was of the Baptist Faith. He retired from Clyde Joyce and Company and at age 70 received his CDL. Mr. Joyce is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Greg and Kaye Joyce of Mt. Airy; a granddaughter, Christie Tate and her husband, Robert of Mt. Airy; a great-grandson, Colby Edwards; a sister and brother-in-law, Mary Lou and Bill Atkinson of High Point; a sister-in-law, Margie Joyce of Mt. Airy. In addition to his parents, Mr. Joyce was preceded in death by his wife, Nellie Marie Poindexter Joyce; a sister, Vivian Smith; brother, Perry Joyce and an infant brother, Frank Joyce. A graveside service will be held 11:00 AM on Saturday, September 15, 2012 at Community Baptist Church with Rev. Larry Stone officiating. The family will receive friends at Moody Funeral Home on Friday, September 14, 2012 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM. In lieu of flowers the family has requested memorials be made to Moody Funeral Home, PO Box 1288, Mt. Airy to assist with the funeral expenses. The family would like to express their appreciation to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care and Jeff and Tina Edwards for all their care during the illness of Mr. Joyce.
