Mr. Columbus Martin ”Lum” Payne
Mr. Columbus Martin “Lum Payne, age 79 of Boonville, passed away Monday, May 22, 2017 at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born October 13, 1937 in Yadkin County to the late Robert Carlie and Julie Ann Money Payne. Mr. Payne retired from Container Corporation of America and was of the Baptist faith . He is survived by his loving wife, Betty Lou Lewis Payne ;daughters and son-in-law, Karen Payne Hamby and her husband Mark, Gwen Payne Thompson and Stephen Harvey; sons, Steven Martin Payne and Samuel Leon Payne; grandchildren, Philip Adams, Rachel Adams, Keisha Eads, Timothy Thompson, Jeremy Thompson, Kaitlyn Thompson, Taylor Payne and William Shaver; great grandchildren, Emily Adams, Ryder Eads, Lela Eads, Joshua Thompson and Parker Thompson; sisters and brothers-in-law, Linda and Jerry Kidd and Donna and Josh Fariss; brother and sister-in-law, C.L. and Kathy Payne. In addition to his parents, Mr. Payne was preceded in death by his brothers, Charles Payne, Jerry Payne, Franklin Payne, J.C. Payne and Wayne Payne; and his sister, Sarah Boyd; his step mother, Lillie Mae Payne Barrett. Visitation will be Wednesday, May 24, 2017 from 6-8 PM at Moody-Davis Funeral Service in Dobson. The funeral will be Thursday at 2:00 PM in The Moody-Davis Chapel with Reverend Allen Barker and Reverend Joel Vestal officiating. Burial will follow in the Little Vine Baptist Church Cemetery.
