Mr. Conrad W. Dillon

Conrad W. Dillon died on Wednesday, October 10th with family at his bedside. Born to Geneva May Cummings and Mathew Moir Dillon, Conrad was delivered in his grandparent's log cabin on March 20, 1941, in Woolwine, Virginia. Conrad leaves behind, a wife, Carrol F. Dillon, two sons, four daughters, eight grandchildren, and one great grandchild. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. Conrad served his country first in the Marine Corp and then in the Army as an Army Ranger. He was always proud of his military service, and became a non-commissioned officer. Conrad was awarded several medals for military service including a Purple Heart with a cluster. After retiring from his military career, he earned a Masters Degree in Economics from the University of Maryland where he graduated with honors and worked as an executive for IBM.

He found peace in life while fishing, reading, and restoring the natural habitat on his properties. Conrad was an avid fisherman, outdoorsman, and was blessed to be able to travel around the world with his wife. Some of his most precious fishing memories are based in the Rocky Mountains alongside his wife, family, and friends. He always said he felt closer to God while being in the wilderness. They were able to make their last journey to the mountains and returned home in September of this year.

Conrad was a man of great drive and determination. It never mattered what the challenge was, the outcome would be the same, a grandiose success. He started to study his religion, the Catholic faith in great depth about three years ago. Since then, he filled up a multitude of notebooks and spent countless hours reading and learning about the Catholic faith. It gave him great pleasure to talk and educate his family about the love of Jesus Christ.

His courage, strength, and service will be remembered.

The family has asked any donations to be made to Hospice or the American Cancer Society. A Service will be held at the Griffith Cline Funeral Home in Bradenton, Florida on October 13, 2012. Visitation will be at 10:00 a.m. followed by a service at 11:00 a.m. There will be a second visitation at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart, Virginia on October 16, 2012 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Burial Service will be conducted at the Woolwine United Methodist Church on October 17, 2012 at 11:00 a.m.
