Mr. Cotton McBride

Mr. Richard Ted “Cotton” McBride, age 72, of Mt. Airy, passed away Wednesday, November 01, 2017, at his home surrounded by his family. Mr. McBride was born in Patrick County on March 4, 1945, to William and Nancy Duncan McBride. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather who will be dearly missed. Surviving is his devoted wife, Carol Pack McBride; a daughter, Susan Edwards; grandchildren, Nicole Holyfield and husband Joshua, Joshua Thomas and wife, Makayla, Walter Venable, Austin Venable, and William Venable; great grandchildren, Madison Holyfield, Benjamin Holyfield, Kalie Holyfield, Willow Holyfield, Alexander Venable, and on the way is Kohyn Thomas; sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary Owens, Janie and Robert Bowman, Brenda and Thomas Gallant, and Patricia Beasley; and brothers, Haywood McBride, Jerry McBride, and Ricky McBride; and special friends, R. J. East and Lewis and Cathy Clement. In addition to his parents, Mr. McBride was preceded in death by a daughter, Shannon Venable. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, November 4, 2017, at Moody Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Chris McMillian. The family will receive friends at the funeral home, Saturday one hour prior to the service. The family would like to express a special thanks to Mountain Valley Hospice for the exceptional care given to Mr. McBride.
