Mr. Coy Lee Yeatts, age 84 of Meadows of Dan passed away Thursday, July 10, 2008 at his home. He was born in Patrick County on September 28, 1923 to the late Coy Oliver and Mary Lee Agee Yeatts. In addition to his parents, Mr. Yeatts was preceded in death by four sisters, Lorraine Sheets, Arlene Banks, and two infant sisters, and two brothers, James Byron Yeatts and Charles Henry Yeatts. He was a member of Reed Island Springs Baptist Church where he was a deacon, and had served in the United States Air Force during World War II. He operated the Mayberry Trading Post for several years, and was a member of the Meadows of Dan Ruritan Club.
Mr. Yeatts is survived by his wife, Dale Wood Yeatts of the home; one brother, Frederick Yeatts of Bedford, Massachusetts; four sisters, Virginia Dare Cohen of Topeka, Kansas, Edna Ann Copenhaver of Chuquiak, Alaska, Geraldine Scardo of Clintwood, Virginia and Sandra Dean of Charlotte, North Carolina; one brother-in-law, Dan C. Sheets of Pueblo, Colorado; and one sister-in-law, Elizabeth Yeatts of New Kent, Virginia.
Funeral services for Mr. Yeatts will be held Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at Reed Island Springs Baptist Church with Pastor Lonnie Hylton and Rev. Clarence Marshall officiating. Burial will follow in the Meadows of Dan Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the church.
