Mr. Curtis William Brown

Mr. Curtis William Brown, age 77, of Lowgap, passed away Thursday, February 1, 2018 at Yadkin Nursing Center. Mr. Brown was born in Surry County on May 30, 1940 to Emanuel and Lelia Caudle Brown. He was a farmer by trade but most of all he was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who will be sorely missed by all his family and many friends. Among the many who will always cherish his memory is his devoted wife of 49 years, Frances Vestal Brown; three daughters and a son-in-law, Deborah and Duane Alexander, Carla S. Lawson, and Cheryl S. Perryman; a son and daughter-in-law, Randy and Penny “PJ” Stewart; grandchildren, Melanie L. Robinson, Tara and Michael Bowman, Grace Lowe, Miranda and Josh Cockerham, Rose Stewart, and Camillia Stewart; great-grandchildren, Sharon Bowman, Haley Bowman, Trevin Robinson, and Reagan Robinson; several nieces and nephews; and special friend, Crystal Mabe and husband Robert. In addition to his parents, Mr. Brown was preceded in death by a daughter, Sharon Stewart Finney; sisters, Mae Bowden, Leona Snow, Mary Lawson, and Gracie Brown; and brothers, Ernest, Grady, James and Emanuel Brown. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Sunday, February 4, 2018 at Mount Vernon Baptist Church by Rev. Bill Spurlin. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday at the church from 1:00 – 2:00 PM. The family would like to extend a special heartfelt thank-you to the staff of Yadkin Nursing Center, Magnolias Over Yadkin for all of the love and care they gave to Mr. Brown during his stay. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Moody Funeral Services to assist with final expenses.
