Mr. Darrell Hawks

Mr. Darrell Hawks age 78 of 267 Lambsburg Road, Lambsburg, VA husband of Mrs. Carol Smoot Hawks passed away Saturday August 31, 2013, at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem. He was born July 26, 1935 in Yeager, W. VA to the late Lloyd and Gracie Leftwich Hawks. He had served in the US Air Force during the Korean War. Mr. Hawks was a member of Round Peak Masonic Lodge #616 and was a member of Lambsburg Missionary Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife, Carol S. Hawks of the home, two sons, Keith Hawks of Mt. Airy, and Danny Hawks and fiancée, Tamela Smith of Mt. Airy, a grandaughter and spouse, Renea and Kelly Bottomley of Ennice, NC, two great grandchildren, Kellen and Isabella Bottomley both of Ennice, NC, two sisters, Lois King of Mt. Airy and Opal Stewart, Clemmons, and a brother, Charles Hawks of Lambsburg, VA, In addition to his parents, Mr. Hawks was preceded in death by a sister, Barbara Gray and two brothers, L.H. Hawks and Carroll Hawks. Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm Monday, September 2, 2013 at Moody Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Rev. Israel Easter and Rev. Verlon Combs. Burial will follow in Chestnut Grove Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6-8 pm Sunday at Moody Funeral Home Chapel.
