Mr. David Lee Draughn, 83 of Mt. Airy passed away Thursday, February 11, 2016 at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home. He was born in Surry County on March 28, 1932 to the late Jacob and Dinah Handy Draughn. Mr. Draughn retired from Proctor-Silex and a member of Union Hill Friends Church. He is survived by his wife, Linda Poore Draughn; sons, Keith Draughn, Brent Draughn and wife, Theresa, Craig Cox and wife, Becky; daughters, Tracey Collins, Carol Casstevens and husband, Joel; grandchildren, Jacob Draughn, Candy Draughn, Brittany Draughn, Sylvia Draughn, Kristin Secrest and husband, Joey, Catlin Cox and Brandy, Courteney Mayes and husband, Corey, Kipp Casstevens, Kyle Casstevens and Matthew Collins; great grandchildren, Dwayne Snyder, Tyson Secrest, Carson Cox and Zander Cox; sisters, Carolyn Fowler and husband, Odell, Lucille Isaacs; brother, Dennis Draughn and wife, Opal. In addition to his parents, Mr. Draughn was preceded in death by his first wife, Viola Hardy Draughn and a brother-in-law, Ed Isaacs. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, February 13, 2016 at Union Hill Friends with Rev. Ernest Brown officiating. Burial will follow at Salem Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Union Hill Friends on Saturday from 1:00 PM until the time of the service. The family would like to express their deepest appreciation to the staff of Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, Janene Moss, Bonnie Boyles and Carol Casstevens and Gentiva Health Care for the wonderful care David was given during his illness.
