Mr. David Ray “Strawberry” White, age 62, of Dobson passed away at his home on Tuesday evening, September 13, 2016. He was born in Surry Co. on February 22, 1954 to the late John Reuben White and the late Virginia Holt White. He was a member of Salem Fork Baptist Church. After graduating from Surry Central High School (Class of 1972), David went to work with Surry Yadkin Electric and retired in 2012 after 40 years of service. David was an avid motorcyclist. Some of the most memorable times in his life were spent while riding his Harley. He loved life, he loved spending time with “The Babies” and even during his hardest struggles he always had a smile and a positive attitude. Rev. Van Brindle, Ted Holyfield and C.L. White are three people that had a great influence on David as a child. David always spoke of them when reflecting back on his childhood. Surviving is his wife of 28 years, Teresa Lawson White of the home; two sisters and brother-in-law, Cynthia and Tim Burton of Dobson, and Cheryl White of Dobson. Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, September 17, 2016 in Salem Fork Baptist with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Rev. Tim Burton and Rev. Sean Joplin will conduct the services. The family will receive friends at Moody-Davis Funeral Home on Friday evening from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. The family would like to give a special thanks to Mtn. Valley Hospice and Palliative Care and to Jewel Hudson with Home Instead for their kind acts of service.
