Mr. Davis Monroe Haynes, age 77 of Dobson passed away at the Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston Salem on Thursday morning July 19, 2007. He was born in Surry County on January 21, 1930 to the late John Sidney Haynes and the late Lelia Dinkins Haynes. In addition to his parent's two sisters Mary Frances Haynes and Irene Haynes Dobbins, and one brother John Henry Haynes preceded him in death. Mr. Haynes was of the Baptist Faith. He was a retired farmer and served as a Corporal in the United States Army, and was an instructor in the Rangers Department during the Korean Conflict. He served on the Board of Directors of First Citizens Bank for Twenty-Eight Years. He was a charter member of the Copeland Ruritan Club, South Surry Volunteer Fire Department. He also served on the Board of Directors of the Surry County Farm Bureau for forty three years. Surviving are his wife of fifty nine years Peggy Terrell Haynes of the home, one son and daughter-in-law David Terrell Haynes and DeAnne McCormick Haynes of Dobson; One much loved granddaughter Hannah Marie Haynes of Dobson; one sister Ila Haynes Phillips of Winston Salem, NC; one sister-in-law Louise Simmons Haynes of Elkin NC; five nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Saturday evening July 21, 2007 from 6 until 8 PM and the Funeral Services will follow the visitation in the Chapel of Moody-Davis Funeral Home in Dobson. Rev. Jimmy Tucker will conduct services.. Flowers will be accepted or memorials to Liberty Baptist Church, C/O Rev. Jimmy Tucker 172 Liberty Church Road, Dobson, NC 27017.
