Mr. Dean Cleary

Mr. Dean Evert Cleary, 87, of Dobson passed away on Thursday, September 29, 2011 at Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital. He was born in Wilkes County on December 10, 1923 to the late Robert and Carrie Wagoner Cleary. He was a retired mechanic from the Department of Transportation and a faithful member of Union Cross Baptist Church as long as his health permitted. Mr. Cleary was a veteran of the United States Army having served our county during WWII. He is survived by a sister, Venar "Pete" Hayes of Elkin and several nieces, nephews and friends; his dear friends and caregivers, Tommy and Mary Cave. In addition to his parents, his dear wife Merlie Sprinkle Cleary and three sisters, Hester Dancy, Dellis Whittington, Verna Shumate and two brothers, Raymond Cleary and Ander Cleary preceded him in death. Funeral services will be held at 2 pm on Saturday, October 1, 2011 at Union Cross Baptist Church by Rev. Tim Burton with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday, September 30, 2011 from 6 to 8 pm at Moody-Davis Funeral Home where his body will remain until carried to the church to lie-in-state 30 minutes prior to the service. The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Dunmore Plantation and to Tommy and Mary Cave for their loving, compassionate care.
