Mr. Delbert Wayne “Red” McHone, age 56, of Mt. Airy, passed away Wednesday June 15, 2016 at the Joan & Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. Mr. McHone was born October 17, 1959 in Forsyth County to the late Johnny and Bessie Hiatt McHone. He was a woodworker and a mechanic. Surviving are one son, Jacob Wayne McHone of Mt. Airy; one daughter, Crystal McHone of Hillsville; two grandchildren, Raleigh Woods and Colton Parnell; and one sister and brother-in-law, Patricia “Patsy” Weatherman and husband Mike of Mt. Airy. In addition to his parents, Mr. McHone was preceded in death by his grandparents, Ruff and Ila Hiatt and by two uncles, Simon Hiatt and Climate “Creeper” Hiatt. Funeral services will be held Saturday June 18, 2016 at 11:00 AM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mt. Airy with services conducted by Chaplain Ricky Spencer with burial to follow in the Willow Hill Moravian Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday from 10:00 AM until time for the service at Moody Funeral Home in Mt. Airy. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, 401 Technology Lane Suite 200 Mt. Airy, NC. 27030. The family would like to give a heartfelt thank you to the staff of Mountain Valley Hospice and to the staff of the Joan & Howard Woltz Hospice Home for all the love and care they gave Delbert during his sickness.
