Mr. Delma Lane Cockram, age 61 of Wake Forest, North Carolina, passed away Wednesday, May 2, 2007 at his home after a brave fight with cancer. He was born on July 29, 1945 in Patrick County to the late Emmitt and Eva McAlexander Cockram. He had served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.
Mr. Cockram is survived by one son, Bradley Cockram of Wake Forest; two daughters and a son-in-law, Suzette Sumner of Raleigh, North Carolina and Stacy and Scott Ham of Christiansburg; three grandchildren, Dylan Sumner, Morgan Sumner and Tyler Ham; one sister and brother-in-law, Demetrice and Jay Davis of Dry Fork; and three brothers and sisters-in-law, Marvis Cockram and Mary of Mount Airy, Manford Dale and Mary Cockram of Bassett, and Wilbur and Pam Cockram of Woolwine; a loving partner, Helene Labbe; and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service for Mr. Cockram will be held Saturday at 11:00 a.m. in Lee Cemetery located at Tuggles Gap with Rev. Joe Cox officiating. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart. Online condolences may be sent by visiting www.moodyfuneralservices.com.
