Mr. Denford "Denny" Floyd Archer

Mr. Denford "Denny" Floyd Archer, age 71 of Patrick Springs, passed away Wednesday, April 29, 2015 at Roanoke Memorial Hospital. He was born in Westbourne, Tennessee on November 16, 1943 to the late Earl Emmanuel Archer and Verna Mae Marlow Archer. In addition to his parents, Mr. Archer was preceded in death by four brothers, Dillard, David, Jimmy and Vestal Archer; and two sisters, Helena Archer and Earlene Bell. He was a member of New Life Community Fellowship Church and had served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Singing was his passion. He was a founding member of the Southern Prophets gospel group and also sang with the Senior Melodies. He was an avid golfer who loved working in his yard and woodworking shop, as well as chasing his faithful dog, Sandy.

Mr. Archer is survived by his wife of 42 years, Marilyn Reisinger Archer of the home and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 2, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at Patrick Springs Pentecostal Holiness Church with Rev. Gene Walker, Rev. Jim Churchwell and Rev. Seth Perkins officiating. Burial will follow in Patrick Memorial Gardens with military rites by the Patrick County Veterans Memorial Honor Guard. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the church, and at other times at the home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice. Moody Funeral Home in Stuart is handling the arrangements.
