Mr. Dennis Stephen "Steve" Lyons

Mr. Dennis Stephen “Steve” Lyons, age 69, of Lowgap, passed away Sunday, April 3, 2016, at his home. Mr. Lyons was born in Forsyth County on November 28, 1946 to the late Oscar Allen Lyons and Woltz Dickens Lyons. After the unexpected death of his father at the age of nine months, he was raised by his mother and father, Woltz and Roy York. He was retired from R. J. Reynolds. Surviving is his devoted wife, Karen Kneavel Lyons; daughters, Denise Hutchens, and Christie Arnder and husband Chris; sons Matthew Lyons and wife Samantha, Richard Lyons and wife Eden; step son, James Hessler, Jr. and wife Lisa; eight grandchildren; sisters and brothers-in-law, Deborah and Robert Farmer and Deanna and Ralph Benge; several nieces and nephews and a special friend, John Anthony. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, April 6, 2016, at Roaring Gap Baptist Church by Rev. Joe Atkins. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church beginning at noon. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Roaring Gap Baptist Church at P.O. Box 304, Lowgap, NC 27024. The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to Mountain Valley Hospice & Palliative Care for the wonderful care given to Mr. Lyons during his illness.
