Mr. Donald Shockley "Donnie" Gunter

Mr. Donald Shockley "Donnie" Gunter, age 60 of Stuart, passed away Sunday, September 23, 2007 at his home. He was born in Patrick County on August 24, 1947 to the late Wade H. and Evelyn Shockley Gunter. In addition to his parents, Mr. Gunter was preceded in death by two brothers Ivan Wade Gunter and Charles Elbert Gunter. He had retired from United Elastic/NarroFlex as a weaving superintendent. He was a graduate of Stuart High School and Winton-Salem Business College, and had served on the Board of Directors for the Patrick County Parks and Recreation Committee.
Mr. Gunter is survived by his wife, Cheryl Doss Gunter of the home; one son, Joseph Wade Gunter of Charlottesville; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Edward R. and Virginia Gunter of Stuart and Robert Leon and Margaret Gunter of Martinsville; his mother-in-law, Elaine Doss of Stuart; two sisters-in-law, Lois Gunter of Virginia Beach and Kik Gunter of Stuart; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Mr. Gunter will be held Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart with Rev. Joe Shockley, Rev. Randy Prouse and Rev. Billy Dixon officiating. Burial will follow in Minnie's Chapel Wesleyan Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Moody Funeral Home.
