Mr. Donald Kenneth Hiatt

Mr. Donald Kenneth Hiatt, 75 of Cana, VA passed away Tuesday, September 27, 2011 at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. Mr. Hiatt was born in Patrick County, September 11, 1936 to the late Lillie Hiatt Thompson. He was retired from Pitney Bowes, was of the Baptist faith and served our country in the Special Forces Unit in the US Army. He is survived by a step-daughter and her husband, Pam and Barry Badgett of Mt. Airy, a step-son and his wife, Randy and Karen Marion of Mt. Airy; step grandchildren, Kevin and Shannon Badgett of Lowgap, Kenny and April Badgett of Mount Airy, Wendy Marion of Mount Airy and Amanda Brooks and husband Michael of Mount Airy; eight step great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews; a sister, Lora Jean Thompson of Pilot Mountain; a brother, Leon Thompson of Ararat, VA. In addition to his mother, Mr. Hiatt was preceded in death by his wife Joan Elizabeth Carpenter Hiatt. Funeral services will be held on Friday September 30, 2011 at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home conducted by Rev. Butch Holder. Burial will follow in Skyline Memory Gardens Cemetery with military rites by VFW Memorial Honor Guard 2019 of Mount Airy and Post 9436 of Pilot Mountain. The family will receive friends on Thursday night from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mt. Airy.
