Mr. Donald Grey Inman

Mr. Donald Grey Inman, age 69, passed away Thursday morning, July 20, 2017. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, and friend. Don served in the United States Navy from January 25, 1968 to January 28, 1974 and was stationed for two years on the U.S.S. Forrestal CVA-59. He was a member of the American Legion Post 123. He retired from VP Buildings after twenty six years as a shipping supervisor. Later in life, he wanted to work with his hands and did construction for twelve more years. His family and friends will remember him most as being kind, humble, and soft spoken. He is survived by his dear wife, Cathy of thirty five years; a daughter and son-in-law, Miranda and Ken Thorn; grandsons, KJ and Greg Thorn (wife Rebecca); his mother, Lucille Inman; brothers and a sister-in-law, Dennis and Vicky Inman and Jerry Inman; sisters-in-law, Ann Leonard and Janet Inman; several nieces and nephews and multiple great nieces and nephews. Mr. Inman was preceded in death by his father, Blain Inman; a brother, Roger Dale; a sister-in-law, Gail Seals; and a brother-in-law, Roy Leonard. Don’s Celebration of Life will begin at 3:00 PM, Saturday, July 22, 2017 at Northside Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice at 401 Technology Lane, Suite 200, Mount Airy, NC 27030. The family would like to express their gratitude to Mountain Valley Hospice & Palliative Care for the wonderful support given to Don and his family.
