Mr. Donald W. Scott, age 73 of Meadows of Dan, passed away Tuesday, March 19, 2013 at his home. He was born in Raleigh County, West Virginia on February 13, 1940, and was preceded in death by his parents, Dan Kelly Scott and Mary Ethel Vipperman Scott Belcher. He was a member of the New Dan River Primitive Baptist Church where he was a deacon and treasurer, and had retired from Easthampton Rubber Thread with 37 years of service.
Mr. Scott is survived by his wife of 51 years, Thelma Rakes Scott of the home; one daughter, Patricia Vaughan of Rocky Mount; one son, Douglas Scott of Meadows of Dan; three grandchildren, Charles Vaughan, James Vaughan and wife, Beth, and Daniel Vaughan; and one sister, Zella Bellina of Cana.
Funeral services for Mr. Scott will be held Friday, March 22, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at the New Dan River Primitive Baptist Church with Elder Alan Terry and Elder Thomas Solomon officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart, and at other times at the home.
