Mr. Donald Ray Wood

Mr. Donald Ray Wood, age 63, of Dobson, NC passed away after a sudden short illness on Wednesday November 16, 2011 at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born in Surry County on December 15, 1947 to the late William Alex Wood and the late Eula Johnson Wood. He was a member of Salem Baptist Church and was a disabled Auto Mechanic. He loved to hunt and fish and cook as long as his health permitted. Surviving are his two sisters and brother-in-law Frances and Chestney Eubanks of Bethania, NC, and Janet Johnson of Winston Salem, NC; one brother and sister-in-law Edward and Caroll Wood of Burlington, NC; one nephew and four nieces; and one special cousin Bill Hardy of Dobson, NC. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday November 19, 2011 at Salem Baptist Church, Dobson, NC. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery. Dr. Bobby Lewis will conduct the services. The Family will receive friends on Saturday November 19, 2011 from 12:30 P.M. until 1:30 P.M. at Salem Baptist Church. The Family has requested that in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Salem Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 430 Rockford Rd., Dobson, NC 27017 or to Alzheimer's Western Carolina Chapter, 3800 Shamrock Drive, Charlotte, NC 28215-3220. The family would like to thank CNA Debra Hall, the staff of Northern Surry Hospital, and Forsyth Medical Center ICU for the care and support during his illness.
