Mr. Douglas Hylton

Mr. Douglas Hylton, age 63 of Patrick Springs, passed away Saturday, February 17, 2018 at Roanoke Memorial Hospital. He was born in Patrick County on June 12, 1954 to the late Robert Lee Hylton and Eulalea Virginia Hylton. In addition to his parents, Mr. Hylton was preceded in death by two sisters, Joan Tatum and Virginia Penn, and three brothers, Timothy, Mark and Carlton Hylton. He was an active member of Mount Nebo Holiness Church where he played lead bass guitar, and was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother. He started his career at J.P. Stevens, and later was a driver for Schwan’s Food Service where he was locally known as “The Ice Cream Man”.

Mr. Hylton is survived by his wife, Doris Reynolds Hylton of the home; three daughters, Geneva Hylton of Patrick Springs, Yulanda Hylton Hairston and husband, Chad of Collinsville, Adraien Hylton of Patrick Springs; one son, Douglas Hylton, II of Patrick Springs; three grandchildren, Chad Dylan Hairston, Christian Hairston, Riley Hundley; four sisters, Ramona “Sue” Reynolds and husband, Leonard of Critz, Darlene Linster and husband, Herman of Stuart, Daphne Hylton of Critz, Michelle Hylton-Ramos and husband, Eugene of Martinsville; and two brothers, Gregory Hylton of Critz, Stephen Keith Hylton and wife, Mandy of Spencer.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 21, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart with Elder Frank Tatum officiating, Burial will follow in Mount Nebo Holiness Church Cemetery.
