Mr. Douglas O’Neal Ratcliff, age 78, of Mt. Airy passed away on Friday April 29, 2016 at the Joan & Howard Woltz Hospice Home. He was born in Pulaski, VA on May 22, 1937 to the late Coy and Kate Well Ratcliff. He was a car salesman and retired from Park Chevrolet in Kernersville, NC. He was a member of Midway Baptist Church and a Veteran of the US Navy. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Iris Farmer, Ruth Atkins; two brothers Donald Ratcliff, Arnold Ratcliff. Surviving is his wife, Glenda Gale Jones Ratcliff of the home; daughter Tonya Ratcliff Seivers of Mt. Airy; two sons and daughter-in-law, Gregory and Beverly Ratcliff of Mt. Airy, Derrick Ratcliff of East Bend; six grandchildren, Olivia Ratcliff Shelton, Alex Ratcliff, Mikayla Seivers, Siler Ratcliff, Maddox Ratcliff, William Douglas Ratcliff; three sisters, Peggy Davis, Brenda Atkins, Bonnie Mannon all of Mt. Airy; one brother, Junior Ratcliff of Mt. Airy. Funeral service will be held 3:00 PM Sunday, May 1, 2016 at Midway Baptist Church with burial to follow in the Church Cemetery with Military Honors by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Memorial Honor Guard Mount Airy Post 2019 and Pilot Mountain Post 9436. Rev. Larry Phillips will conduct the services. The family will receive friends on Sunday at the church one hour before the services. Moody Funeral Home is serving the Ratcliff family.
