Mr. Douglas Anthony "Tony" Smith

Mr. Douglas Anthony “Tony” Smith, 53 of Mt. Airy, passed away at his home Wednesday, February 3, 2016. He was born in Surry County on May 17, 1962 to the late James Douglas and Carol Jean Johnson Smith. Mr. Smith was owner and operator of Smith Body Shop in Mt. Airy. He is survived by his wife, Teresa Anne Vernon Smith; daughters, Ashley Rierson and husband, Austin, Lauren Smith and Brandon Gwyn; sons, Wayne Puckett and Shane Smith; grandchildren, Lily, Vincent, Evan, Colby, Reese, Mariam, Hailey and Elliott due in April; a sister and brother-in-law, Allison and Steve Golden; brother and sister-in-law, Michael Devon “Mike” and Michelle Smith. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, February 5, 2016 at Woodland Baptist Church with Rev. Jimmy Slate officiating. A private interment will be at a later date. The family will receive friends at the church on Friday from 12:30 until 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers the family has requested that memorials be made to the American Heart Association, 7272 Greenville Ave., Dallas, TX 75231.
