Mr. Earnest Richard Harris

Mr. Earnest Richard Harris, age 80 of Meadows of Dan passed away Wednesday, August 12, 2009 at Moses Cone Memorial Hospital in Greensboro, North Carolina. He was born in Floyd County, Virginia on January 29, 1929 to the late George Washington Harris and Liza Alderman Harris. In addition to his parents, Mr. Harris was preceded in death by three sisters, Aldean Craig, Arlie Conner and Odgen Pickerel, and one brother, Murken Harris. He retired from United Elastic Corporation as a machinist.
Mr. Harris is survived by his wife, Hope Hubbard Harris of the home; one son, Ernest Dean Harris of Greensboro; one granddaughter, Melissa Dawn Harris of Floyd; one great-granddaughter, Isobel Harris; and one sister, Sybil H. Mize of Bassett.
A memorial service for Mr. Harris will be held Friday at 3:00 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart with Elder Edward Bowman officiating. Military rites will be conducted by the Patrick County Veterans Memorial Honor Guard. Burial will be private. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service at the funeral home.
