Mr. Eddie Lee Sumner

Mr. Eddie Lee Sumner, 90 of Mooresville formerly of Ararat, VA passed away at Lake Norman Regional Medical Center Wednesday, July 25, 2012. Mr. Sumner was born in Tifton County, GA on February 10, 1922 to the late Tom and Annie Mae Yown Sumner. He retired from Bassett Furniture and was a member of Doe Run Baptist Church. Mr. Sumner is survived by three daughters and two sons-in-law, Helen and Jerry Gwyn of Mooresville, Ellen McCard, and Judy and Ray Kendrick all of Ashburn, GA; eight grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Mr. Sumner was preceded in death by his wife, Ota Puckett Sumner; a grandson, Jeffery Gwyn; three sisters, Erma Nixon, Estelle Guy, and Magdalene Fortsom; and a brother James Sumner. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, July 27, 2012 at Doe Run Baptist Church with the Rev. Terry Vaughan officiating. Full military rites will be conducted by VFW Memorial Honor Guard Post 2019 of Mt. Airy and Post 9436 of Pilot Mountain. There will be no formal visitation with the family. The body will remain at Moody Funeral Home in Mt. Airy for anyone to view until the time to leave for the service.
