Mr. Edgar Franklin Goard

Mr. Edgar Franklin Goard, age 76 of Stuart passed away Monday, October 5, 2009 at his home. He was born in Patrick County on July 17, 1933 to the late Dennis and Pearl Goad Goard. In addition to his parents, Mr. Goard was preceded in death by two brothers, Irvin and Albert Goard and one sister, Lelia East. He attended Bouldin Memorial Presbyterian Church, and had retired from the maintenance department at Patrick County High School in 1998.
Mr. Goard is survived by his wife, Kitty M. Goard of the home; two sons, Garland "Pete" Goard of Patrick Springs and Mark Goard of Danville; two daughters, Betty Corns of Stuart and Teresa Bolt of Ridgeway; a step-son, Darryl Fain of Martinsville; a step-daughter, Elva Caldwell of Winston-Salem, North Carolina; four grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; eight step-great-grandchildren; one brother, Bobby Goard of Stuart; and five sisters, Lois Worley, Eva Foley and Pauline Epperly, all of Patrick Springs, Nannie Ruth Lawson of Stuart and Elaine Hughes of Patrick Springs.
Funeral services for Mr. Goard will be held Thursday at 2:00 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart with Rev. Jim Churchwell and Rev. Bernard Handy officiating. Burial will follow in Patrick Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart.
