Mr. Edward "Eugene" Foley, 84, of Stuart, passed away Sunday, June 5, 2011 at his home. He was born in Henry County on August 10, 1926 to the late Charlie "Cleve" Foley and Loni Pilson Foley. In addition to his parents, Mr. Foley was preceded in death by an infant son, Mark Eugene Foley; a twin sister, Virginia Pauline Hazelwood; and five brothers, Thelmer, Ray, Robert, Paul and Marshall Foley. He served in the United States Army during World War II, and had retired from Fieldcrest Mills with 40 years of service.
Mr. Foley is survived by his wife of 65 ½ years, Allene F. Foley of the home; four sons, James Mike Foley of Stuart, Barry Parks Foley of Germany, Andy Kennel Foley of Elamsville and Jay Eugene Foley of Stuart; two daughters, Donna Jean Greer of Elamsville and Raena Lou Greer of Bassett, 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mildred Evans of North Carolina and Hazel Hall of Bassett; best friends and neighbors, Carter Bross and Olin Pendleton; and special caregiver, Barbara Dalton.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart with Pastor Josie Foley officiating. Burial will follow in the Buffalo Ridge Church of God of Prophecy cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart.
