Mr. Edward "Ray" Lawson

Mr. Edward "Ray" Lawson, age 83 of Stuart, passed away Wednesday, November 14, 2012 at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. He was born in Patrick County on June 11, 1929 to the late William Joseph and Sallie Mae Wood Lawson. In addition to his parents, Mr. Lawson was preceded in death by and infant brother, Guy Lawson; three brothers, Richard, Howard and Carl Lawson; three sisters, Ruth Hazelwood, Lucille Anthanas and Betty Jo Flippin. He was a member of Pastor John's House, and had retired from United Elastic with over 30 years of service. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend who enjoyed gardening, painting, cooking and baking.
Mr. Lawson is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Cora Belle Dalton Lawson; one son and daughter-in-law, Blane and Pamela Haden Lawson of Stuart; two daughters and sons-in-law, Lauren Rae and Glenn Wyatt of Louisville, Kentucky, Suzanne and Darrell Wilson of Stuart; four grandchildren, Tiffany Lawson, Justin Wilson, Aaron Lawson and Kellen Lawson; neighbor and caregiver, Shelby Stevens of Stuart.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart, Virginia with his brother-in-law, Elroy Newman officiating. Burial will be private. The family will receive friends Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until time of the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Ray Lawson Benefit Account for Cora Belle Lawson, c/o SunTrust Bank, P.O. Box 152, Stuart, Virginia 24171.
