Mr. Edward C. "Eddie" Scott, 65 of Mt. Airy left his home Sunday, July 28, 2013 to go on to his Heavenly Home. He was born in Surry County on August 20, 1947. Mr. Scott served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He came home with determination to own and operate his own trucking business, driving over 3 million miles without a chargeable accident. Mr. Scott enjoyed life, being with his family and making sure they learned to hunt and fish. Some of his happiest times were seeing his granddaughter kill her first deer; watching his wife and son-in-law fish. Mr. Scott was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Wade and Ruth Elelia Chappell Norman. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Annie Mae Moncus Scott of the home; two sons, Jeffrey Alan Scott and wife, Donna of Mt. Airy, Jason Neil Scott and partner, Brian Burton of Greensboro; two daughters, Tracie Kerns and husband, Willie and Angie Scott and husband, Kent all of Mt. Airy; grandchildren, Makayla Dawn Leazott and husband, Chaz, Jesseca Scott and Adam Tilley, and Aimee Lynn Whitt; a great grandson, Jacob Isaac Tilley; one brother, Roger Dale Scott and wife, Ann of Elkin; two nieces, Kelly Lambert and Lindsay Scott; special uncle, Charlie Moncus and wife, Helena; special friends, Gary Lovill and Kyle Butcher. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, July 30, 2013 at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mt. Airy with Pastor Neil Pressley and Chaplain Justin Nelson officiating. Burial will follow at Oakdale Cemetery with full military rites conducted by VFW Honor Guard Post 2019 of Mt. Airy and Post 9436 of Pilot Mountain. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM. The family would like to express their deepest appreciation to all the wonderful caregivers during Eddie's illness.
