Mr. Elijah Grant

Elijah Grant, 47, of Stuart, VA answered the Master’s Call on Thursday, July 27, 2017. He was born on August 4, 1969 to Willie Grant, Jr. and Lillie Mae Self Davis.

Elijah attended the public schools in Martinsville, VA and Patrick Henry Community College, where he earned an Associate Degree and a certificate in Industrial Welding, as well as met the “apple of his eye” for eighteen years, Rev. Kathy Street Thomas Grant. He was a loving husband and a doting father.

His work experience included Martinsville Dupont Credit Union, Applied Felts, and Hanesbrand. Elijah achieved his dream when he became the owner and operator of Easy Eats Restaurant in Martinsville, VA. He loved to cook!

He was a former member of Reach Out Apostolic Church, First Christian Church and Refuge Temple Ministries, before uniting with New Life in Christ Church. He loved singing and studying God’s Word. He served as an Usher, and he sang with Ordained by God.

He leaves to mourn his passing and cherish the memories, his parents, beloved wife, stepmom Doris Grant; six children, Chontresia Hairston of Collinsville, VA; Katherine Dillard of Arizona; Jasmine Lowe of Martinsville, VA; Nekeyda (Michael) Wimbush, Kimberly Tatum and Cindy Thomas all of Stuart, VA; two brothers, Eugene (Michelle) Grant of Martinsville, VA; Willie (Victoria) Grant, III of Greensboro, NC; one sister, Senora Grant Carter of Martinsville, VA; six grandchildren: Alyasia Hairston, Aniya Hairston, Yahweh Dillard, Yulan Dillard, Karisalyn Wimbush and Mitchell Wimbush; Aunts and Uncles, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives; and friends.

The homegoing services will be held on Thursday, August 3, 2017 at First Christian Church, 131 Forest Lane of Stuart, VA at 1:00 p.m. Rev. Dr. Roger R. Hagwood, Eulogist. Visitation will begin at 12:00 noon, and other times at the home. Burial will follow the services in Patrick Memorial Gardens.
