Mr. Elmer "Odell" Comer

Mr. Elmer “Odell” Comer, age 90, of Dobson, NC, a loving husband, father, grandfather, son and brother, passed away on Monday March 26, 2018 at Joan & Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. He was born February 27, 1928 to the late Henry Sidney Comer and the late Vassie Whitaker Comer. He was a member and deacon of Salem Fork Christian Church. He served in the U.S. Army in Korea. He was a retired Motor Grader Operator for Carl Rose and Sons. He was an avid fisherman, and gardener. Surviving are his wife of 68 years, Hazel Pilson Comer of the home; the pride of his life two wonderful children, a son Rocky Comer of Wilson, NC; a daughter, Michelle Tutterow and husband, Michael of Spartanburg, SC; two precious granddaughters, Alex and Courtney Tutterow; one sister Irene Weavil and husband, Max of Winston Salem; one brother and sister-in-law, Clark and Carolyn Comer of Dobson; brother-in-law’s, Tommy Key of Dobson, Jack Key of Dobson and a sister-in-law, Faye Comer of Dobson. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sisters Theatrice “Sis” Childress and husband J.B. Childress, Barbara and husband Jimmie Davis, Janice Key; brothers James and his wife Marylene Comer, Delmore “Pete” Comer; his mother and father-in-law Bessie Key Pilson, and Brady M. Pilson; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Alda Doby and Arnold Doby and sister-in-law Lettie Key.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Saturday March 31, 2018 at Salem Fork Christian Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Rev. Austin Caviness will officiate the services. The family will receive friends at Moody-Davis Funeral Home on Friday evening from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. The family has requested in lieu of flowers memorials be made to the Salem Fork Christian Church Cemetery Fund C/O Monroe McCraw 113 Gull Point Ln. Elkin, NC 28621 and/or to the Joan & Howard Woltz Hospice Home 945 Zephyr Rd. Dobson, NC 27017.
