Mr. Everett Curtis Hawks

Mr. Everett Curtis Hawks, 76, passed away May 27, 2017 with his wife and daughters at his bedside at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center from injuries sustained in a fall in his orchard. Everett was a retired electrician with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers local # 317. He was an avid orchardist growing peaches and apples for many years. Everett was outdoorsman who loved hunting and shooting matches. He never met a stranger and lived life to the fullest with a wonderful sense of humor. Everett was a three-time cancer survivor. Everett was born May 2, 1941 in Carroll County to the late Joseph and Della Hawks. Surviving are his loving wife of 51 years, Louise Bowman Hawks; his daughters Kristi & Jody King and Kelly & Brian Lindamood all of Ararat; grandchildren, Kayla and Jacob King and Katherine Lindamood; brothers, Billy & Kathleen Hawks of Sophia and Clinton Hawks of Martinsville; sisters-in-law, Kay Hawks, Linda Inscore, and Rowena Hopkins; brother-in-law & wife, Bobby & Dianne Bowman; mother-in-law, Effie Bowman; several nieces and nephews. He was proceeded in death by his parents, a brother, David Hawks, and brother-in-law, Donald Inscore; and father-in-law, Shirley Bowman. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, May 30, 2017 at Moody Funeral Home in Mt. Airy with Rev. John R. Bowman officiating. The family will receive friends one hour before the service. Interment will be at the Bowman Family Cemetery in Ararat, Virginia. The family would like to thank Dr. Nick Chrysson and all of the staff at Mt. Airy/Novant Cancer Center for the wonderful care they provided over the years. Also, the trauma team at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center for giving him the best care possible.
