Mr. Everette "Toots" Turpin

Mr. Everette "Toots" Turpin, 88 of King passed away Wednesday, October 17, 2012 at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. Mr. Turpin was born in Surry County on January 22, 1924 to the late Benjamin Ade and Edna Vaughn Turpin. He retired from Volvo Truck as Shop Foreman and was a member of Triad Baptist Church in Kernersville. He served our country in the United States Navy during WWII. He is survived by his wife, Mildred Joyce Bryant Turpin of the home; a beloved step-daughter, Robin Laughlin of Lexington; beloved step-sons and daughters-in-law, Jerry Brent Hall, Rev. Ronald Dale and Brenda Hall all of Mt. Airy, Jeffery Scott and Lisa Hall of Winston-Salem; grandchildren and their spouses, Christy and Chris Whitaker, Gina Whitaker all of Mt. Airy, David and Sharie Hall of Laurel Fork, VA., Laura Hall, Joseph Hall both of Winston-Salem, Byron Laughlin, and Heather Laughlin both of Kernersville; eight great grandchildren; nephews, Randy, Thomas, Ken Turpin, and Rex Inman. In addition to his parents, Mr. Turpin was preceded in death by his first wife, Polly Turpin; a sister, Silvia Inman; brothers, Theodore, John, and Charlie Turpin. Funeral services will be held Friday, October 19, 2012 at 11:00 AM at Pinnacle View Baptist Church with Rev. Robert Decker officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with full military honors conducted by VFW Memorial Honor Guard Post 2019 of Mt. Airy and Post 9436 of Pilot Mountain.
