Mr. Floyd Thomas Tolbert, 84 of Mt. Airy, passed away Thursday, October 13, 2011 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Surry County on June 23, 1927 to the late Hubert and Mecie Hodge Tolbert. He was a life long farmer and a member of Black Water Community Church. He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann Tolbert of the home; a son and daughter-in-law, Thomas Dale and Debby Tolbert of Mt. Airy; grandchildren, Katrina and husband Monty Wolfe of Mt. Airy, Alisha and husband Rodney Johnson of Harmony; great grandchildren, Maddie and Carver Wolfe and one on the way; three step grandchildren; eleven step great grandchildren; sisters and brother-in-law, Myrtle O'Neal of Mayodan, Carol and Ray Beck of Pilot Mountain; brothers and sisters-in-law, Troy and Phyllis Tolbert, Carl and Ruby Tolbert. In addition to his parents, Mr. Tolbert was preceded in death by brothers, Herbert, Roy, and Ralph Tolbert. Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 15, 2011 at 2:00 PM at Black Water Community Church with Rev. Ted Crotts, Rev. Ray Hutson, and Rev. Frank Danley officiating. The family will receive friends Friday night from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the Church. Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, 401 Technology Lane, Suite 200, Mt. Airy, NC 27030.
