Mr. Frank Dickerson Ayers, age 87 of San Antonio, TX passed away May 22, 2013 in a Veterans Hospital in San Antonio, TX. He was born in Patrick County on Feb. 27, 1926 to the late Bonnie Ayers and May Shockley Ayers. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Violet Moran Ayers and one son, Donald Stephen Ayers. He had served in the United States Air Force for 24 years. At the time of his retirement, he was stationed in San Antonio, Texas where he continued to live for his lifetime.
Frank is survived by two special friends, Jim and Emilee Payne of Castroville, Texas. Mr. Payne who ran a business on the base, hired Frank in a secretarial position after his military retirement. They worked together until Mr. Payne's retirement, having been friends since the 70's. The Paynes, who were a blessing to Frank, took care of his affairs during the last two months. In addition to his friends, Frank is survived by his sister, JoAnn Bishop Corns of Stuart; a brother and sister-in-law, Johnnie and Marie Moran of Bassett; and his dog, Sheba.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 7:00 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart with Rev. James Moore officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Minnie's Chapel Wesleyan Church cemetery.
