Mr. Franklin Robert Marquet

Mr. Franklin Robert Marquet, age 93 of Mt. Airy, passed away Sunday, February 12, 2012 at the Woltz Hospice Home. Mr. Marquet was born in Reading, PA on May 25, 1918 to Heister and Eva Blouch Marquet. He served our country in the United States Army during WWII and later he and his wife owned and operated Marquet Christian Supply in Stroudsburg, PA. He was a member of Gideons International, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2019 and American Legion Post 123. Mr. Marquet was a devoted member of First Baptist Church, offering his volunteer time to help in many capacities there as well as assisting Boy Scouts of America, AARP and YVEDDI. Surviving is his devoted wife, Jean Landis Marquet of the home; a daughter, Mary Beth Marquet of Winston-Salem; sons and daughter-in-law, David Marquet of Bangor, PA; Allen and Patricia Marquet of Havertown, PA; grandchildren, David Marquet, Jr., William Marquet and Alyssa Marquet; a sister, Thelma Casper of McCook, NE and a special friend, Leonard Kirsch. In addition to his parents, Mr. Marquet was preceded in death by sisters, Marquerite Schlegal and Lorraine Gregro. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, February 17, 2012 at First Baptist Church by Dr. Roger Gilbert. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the Fireside Room. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Gideons International, P.O. Box 1030, Mt. Airy, NC 27030; to Mountain Valley Hospice at 401 Technology Lane, Suite 200, Mt. Airy, NC 27030 or to First Baptist Church at 714 N. Main St. Mt. Airy, NC 27030.
